Grant Preparation

At Mighty Oaks, we want to make sure Grant Preparation has been done to the level of best practices. In short, this means the program or project you are seeking funding for has been developed to a point that we can answer all expected grant proposal questions, has a sufficiently detailed Budget, and relevant Data has been identified.

Writing & Submission
After The Preparation and some level of Grant Research & Planning, it is time for Grant Writing & Submission. We start with a Base Proposal—a source document that answers the most commonly asked questions from Funders. The Base Proposal supports a modular approach to answering varying proposal questions, creating an almost automated method of completing proposals--what we like to refer to as a Grant Machine--fast, accurate, and successful.
Research & Planning
In parallel, we recommend Grant Research & Planning be completed a “year out.” This process can, and should, be conducted for individual programs and projects, unrestricted operating funds, and capital projects, and then roll up into an Annual Grants Calendar (extremely helpful for the annual budgeting process). While grant opportunities will pop up throughout the year, having completed both The Preparation and Grant Research & Planning for the upcoming 12 months will put you in a much better place to react to these opportunities with less stress and a higher likelihood of funding success.

Strategic Planning & Board Retreats
Leveraging the grant process into a strategic plan
All the hard work you’ve done over last year, or so, to prepare, plan, and submit grant proposals can be put together to form the majority of a three-year strategic plan.
The real meat and potatoes of a strategic plan, the part that makes it a useful and guiding document, are the goals and measurable objectives you have identified though the grants process. And after a year, or years, you have the baseline data needed to project out your goals for at least three years.  The Strategic Planning Process is also an ideal way to keep you Board engaged and enthusiastic.

Communications  Strategies & Management
We can help you raise the profile of your organization through a communications strategy that works for your organizational capacity. We start with an overall asset audit providing feedback and recommendations, then work with you to design:
* Refreshed eNewsletter and website content to enhance engagement
* Outreach strategies for expanding your base constituency
* Social media content calendars and reports
* Media relations strategy for print and broadcast outlets
* Updated engagement materials: press releases, online surveys, annual reports, stewardship communications.
This work leads to branded language templates aimed at optimal engagement with your existing and potential constituents: customers/clients, donors, volunteers - sometimes all of the above!
